Our Philosophy

Healthy crown hair academy is a 5 hour hands on hair education experience focused on teaching healthy hair practices, proper technique and confidence to young girls in a supportive environment.

This Academy is designed for Black girls ages 10-17.

This session is structured to meet the unique hair care needs, learning styles, and developmental stages of this age group.

Future Programs & Expanded Offerings
Additional classes and workshops are planned for:
Parents of biracial or multi-textured children
Single fathers and caregivers raising daughters
Adults seeking education on caring for their own hair
Cosmetology students preparing for the State Board Exam
Each offering will be developed as a separate, focused session to ensure appropriate instruction, pacing, and hands-on learning for that audience.

Why Separate Programs?
Different audiences have different learning goals. By offering specialized sessions, we are able to provide:

How Will I Know When New Classes Are Available?
New programs and workshops will be announced on our website and social media platforms. We encourage parents, caregivers, adults, and cosmetology students to check back regularly or join our interest list for updates.

No. This is not a styling class or trend-based class. The focus is on healthy hair, education, safety, and long-term care---not quick styles.

The Academy is presented by Reflections of You Salon and led by Letitia Knight, a licensed professional hairstylist with over 30 years of experience, along with trained assistants for supervision. 

Students will learn:

*Hair structure and scalp care

*Proper sectioning 

*when and how to use leave-in conditioner 

*How to read product ingredients 

*Braiding basics (cornrow foundation) 

*Pin curls and flexi-rod sets

*Curling iron technique  (no fish hooks)

*Flat-ironing safety and heat protectant use

*Daily,  weekly, and nighttime hair routines 

Yes, WITH STRICT SUPERVISION. 

Heat tools are Instructor-controlled and use only for educational purposes to teach safe technique and heat protection 

Yes. Each student receives a Take Home hair care kit to continue practicing healthy habits at home,  along with a workbook and certificate of completion. 

Yes. Lunch is included and provided during a supervised 30 minute break.

This is a drop-off program.  Parents do not stay but must remain reachable during the session.

Nothing.  All tools, materials and supplies are provided. 

Enrollment is limited to 20 students to ensure quality instruction and supervision. 

Enrollment is $380 per student,  which includes instruction,  materials,  lunch and the take home kit.

Due to limited seating and preparation costs, All Sales Are Final, unless the event is canceled by the organizer.
